Global Ambassadors

International Student Services employs a team of student workers to support the international community on campus. They serve as early connection points for new students before they arrive, a safety net in those first semesters, and a continued source of support throughout a student’s time at the University of Arizona. Global Ambassador positions are available year-round and seasonally.

Global Ambassador Job Description

Position Overview: Global Ambassadors, play a key role in welcoming and assisting new international students to ensure they feel supported, connected, and engaged within the University of Arizona community. This is an exciting opportunity for students who are passionate about helping others, fostering cross-cultural connections, and being a leader on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist incoming international students at the airport, providing a warm and helpful first impression.
  • Help lead key orientation events such as Destination Arizona, campus tours, and information tables to introduce new students to life at the university.
  • Organize and lead monthly events such as Friday @ Global and shopping trips, ensuring they run smoothly and students feel engaged.
  • Take charge of special events, including managing check-ins, headcounts, and facilitating clear communication to ensure everything operates efficiently.
  • Foster a sense of community among international students through active engagement at events and on-campus activities.
  • Share valuable information on university resources, student life, and Tucson with international students, helping them adapt and thrive.
  • Keep international students informed about campus events and activities happening around Tucson via the WhatsApp community.

Time Commitment & Availability:

  • Pre-Semester Commitment: 20-25 hours per week (two weeks before the start of the semester, approximately August 13th, 2025)
  • Semester Commitment: 6-10 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters (hours vary per week)
  • Availability for key events and meetings during both the pre-semester period and throughout the academic year is essential.

Airport Ambassadors will assist with the following:

  • Greeting new international students at the Tucson airport
  • Preparing and distributing welcome materials for new students
  • Assisting with arrival and new student questions
  • Assisting with transportation referrals
  • Transportation for student workers will be provided to/from the Tucson airport

Availability

Must be available 1-2 weeks before the start of the semester for airport assistance
