The Center for English as a Second Language (CESL) offers tutoring and fee-based evening classes on English for academic purposes, pronunciation and conversation.
The Graduate College oversees all aspects of the graduate enterprise at the University of Arizona. The Graduate Student Academic Services (GSAS) Office within the Graduate College helps you keep track of your academic progress and the steps needed to complete your degree.
The Graduate Center, within the Graduate College, serves as a hub for resources. Some of their notable programs include the University Fellows program, lecture series, Grad Slam, and the Graduate Writing Oasis in collaboration with the THINK TANK.
The Office of Instruction and Assessment (OIA) provides resources and support to all those engaged in instructional activities at the UA. OIA assists with pedagogical planning and curricular design, instructional technologies, multimedia and website design, and course and student assessment.
The Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) promotes the causes and concerns of the graduate student body, creates and fosters programs beneficial for growth and interaction, disburses funds for the benefit of professional development, and serves as the representative body and voice at the University of Arizona. GPSC hosts the Graduate Orientation held each August and oversees the travel grant program.
Childcare and Family Resources provides UA employees and students with customized childcare services such as consultations, financial assistance, specialized sick and emergency care options, and lactation resources.
The THINK TANK offers a free and fee-based services to support your learning needs. In partnership with University Libraries and the Graduate Center, the THINK TANK offers free workshops for graduate students focused on managing your library resources, important skills and strategies for academic success, and writing in grad school. The THINK TANK’s Writing Center can also assist you with all stages of the writing process.
With four libraries on campus, the UA has many options for students to study, create, collaborate, and research. The Main Library is open almost 24/7, offering flexible spaces, friendly experts, a wide range of technology available for rent, and in-depth research collections that encourage new ideas and help to build new connections.
Doctoral students can apply for a long-term study room while working on comp exams or dissertation.
The library also has lockers available for students to store research materials. Graduate students can apply for an assigned locker for the current semester. If there is no waiting list, you can request an extension.
The Writing Skills Improvement Program (WSIP) provides professional writing tutoring, writing groups, and editing services across all disciplines. WSIP offers regular 50-minute workshops free of charge. Workshop topics include citation formatting, research statements, resumes and CVs.
