Academics Abroad

Academics Abroad

Studying abroad is a unique academic opportunity that allows you to earn credit for your degree while traveling and living in another country.

The earlier you start planning to study abroad, the more flexible you can be with what courses you take abroad — meaning you'll have more program locations to choose from. Ask your academic advisor about fitting study abroad into your degree plan and saving certain requirements — like gen-eds and electives — for study abroad.

Finding Courses Abroad

Depending on the classes available on your program, you can take a combination of major, minor, foreign language, internship, Gen Ed, and elective credit while you’re abroad. Learn more about how to find the right classes for you, including tools like Global Tracks.

Earning Academic Credit

The exact credit you earn abroad will depend on which program you choose and the classes you take. Some programs offer University of Arizona Direct Credit, which will factor into your GPA. Other programs offer Transfer Credit, which will not factor into your GPA. Credit type and course lists can be found on each study abroad program page in the Program Search.
