International Education Week (IEW) is a time we take each year to celebrate the benefits of international education and global exchange. A joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, universities and institutions around the globe are encouraged to create and participate in events around IEW, that promote these global initiatives.

Arizona International acknowledges the importance of international engagement in higher education. As a top-ranked global university, we celebrate the part we are playing in shifting and advancing paradigms in higher education around the global.

In October 2022, the University of Arizona was named second national Top Producer of Gilman Scholars, and achieved record international student enrollments. Both are significant achievements, and are indicative of our commitment to our students and to international education programs and initiatives.

IEW is part of our ongoing efforts to promote programs that both prepare Americans for a global environment, through study abroad, and attract future leaders from abroad to study and learn at the University of Arizona through international recruitment and exchange experiences.

On Thursday, November 17, Arizona International is hosting a Parade of Cultures to showcase the wonderful diversity of students on our campus from all around the globe.

Starting at 1:45 PM at the Women’s Plaza of Honor, located between Centennial Hall and the Arizona State Museum (South), international students will parade from the Women’s Plaza of Honor, next to Centennial Hall to the Student Union and back again for socializing and pizza.

Participants are invited to wear something related to their culture.

The Parade of Cultures will set aside politics to celebrate the individual and their national identity, and is a celebration of the diversity of students and faculty represented here on our campus. We ask that participants be thoughtful and respectful before, during, and after the parade, and recognize that individuals have different perspectives about nationality and identity.

We can’t wait to walk with you!
