US Immigration and Customs Enforcement withdraws plan requiring international students to take in-person classes
The Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) will revert back to guidance issued at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
July 14, 2020 | UPDATE:
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has withdrawn the July 6th guidance requiring F-1 students to leave the US if their classes are entirely online.
Earlier today, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement rescinded its guidelines, announced last week, that placed restrictions on international students’ presence in the United States if they were only taking online classes.
We are pleased that the Trump administration rescinded this guidance and that international students will not have to choose between their education and their health and safety.
We continue to value and support our international students in their perseverance and determination to complete their degree plans. International students are welcome at the University of Arizona, and we are committed to ensuring they are treated equitably.
