Although she has been with us for a few months already, please join us in welcoming Nicole!

Nicole Staab joined the Study Abroad Team during the Fall Semester and brings both advising experience and experience living abroad! Before joining our team, Nicole was an academic advisor in the College of Fine Arts and a champion for study abroad in her department. Now on the Study Abroad Team, she's able to help students of all majors fulfill their dreams of going abroad.

Her own study abroad journey took her to Seoul, South Korea, during her junior year of her undergraduate degree. Nicole spent the full academic year abroad at Yonsei University, one of South Korea's most highly ranked schools.

“My year abroad in South Korea taught me so many life lessons but most importantly it taught me to believe in myself. Being away in a foreign country will undoubtedly bring some fears, but the courage to take the first step into a new adventure will bring so many meaningful life experiences. Studying abroad will help you grow into your true self. Do not let the fear hold you back!”

After completing her bachelor's degree, Nicole returned to South Korea to teach English. She worked with nearly every age group, from early childhood and up, and discovered a passion for education. After this second adventure in South Korea, Nicole continued on her journey as an educator by earning a master's degree in Education at NAU.

Now, as a Study Abroad Coordinator here at UArizona, Nicole guides students through the study abroad process. From housing and courses to visa paperwork, Nicole has the answers. Her current portfolio includes programs in Asia, Oceania, and the United Kingdom.

Nicole's advice to her students about to go abroad?

"Once you’re there, enjoy your time! Travel to other places, eat new foods, take lots of pictures, meet and learn from new people, and delve into opportunities to immerse yourself in the culture. Take the time to research the country you will be visiting, learn some of the language and embrace the differences you will encounter. Whatever you take from this year will last you a lifetime!"
