Business Manager, Senior

Sofia joined Arizona International in 2021 from the University of Wyoming, her alma mater, where she earned a B.S. in Accounting and held roles as an Accountant and later as a Business Manager. In her current role as Business Manager, Senior, Sofia oversees the daily financial operations for Study Abroad and International Admissions—including budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and reconciliation—in collaboration with the accounting staff she supervises. She also works closely with the AVP and Director of Finance and International Operations to ensure financial compliance across units, personnel budgeting, and assists with various strategic projects as needed.

In addition, Sofia supports HR functions in coordination with the Provost HR team, assists other units as needed, and serves as a Wellness Ambassador for Arizona International—promoting wellbeing and leading activities such as the Move Arizona Challenge.

Her commitment to and passion for international education are rooted in her own study abroad experience in Paris, France, which continues to inspire her work. She is fluent in Spanish and English, speaks elementary French, and enjoys learning new languages. She is an avid runner—recently completing her first half and full marathons—and enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, kayaking, practicing yoga, and walking with her Springer Spaniel, Bambi.  Each year, she also volunteers with the VITA program, helping thousands of low-income families file their taxes for free.
