Hello from Tucson! My name is Hope Noriega, and I have a degree in International Affairs, with minors in Asian Studies, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. During my time as a college student, I was an international student myself having studied abroad in both Quito, Ecuador, and Beijing, China, and since a young age, I have always been interested in helping international students, as my family hosted many in the past.
My favorite thing about UArizona
My favorite thing about the University of Arizona is the location; We are in the center of the city, not only bordered by major streets that are lined with cuisines from all over the world, but also a few blocks away from downtown.
My recommendations for places international students should explore in Tucson
After arriving to Tucson, you have to explore my neck of the woods, Santa Cruz County! Visit key cities in the history of Arizona, like Tubac, Tumacacori, and Nogales, and for a little fun in the sun you can visit Patagonia Lake.
My top tip for success at a U.S. university
My best tip would be to get involved in clubs that prepare you for your desired career fields. This will give you a head start in getting to know the profession and in increasing your professional network, but also let you know if it is right for you or not.
