Assistant Dean, Research & Development Assistant Vice President, Southeast AsiaHillary Vance is the Assistant Dean for Research and Development and AVP for Southeast Asia in the office of International Education. She oversees the UA’s microcampus partnerships in Southeast Asia, including locations in Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia. She is the PI for the UA's subcontract for the 5 year USAID Development and Inclusive Scholarship Program for Burma. Hillary supervises the microcampus research team, works on external funding opportunities, and supports the development of main campus programs for microcampus students. She joined the University of Arizona’s international office in 2013, and since 2016 has worked on microcampus development. She spent three years in Cambodia managing UA Phnom Penh and other regional partners.
Hillary earned her BA from Rutgers University in History and Middle Eastern Studies with a minor in Political Science, her MEd from Lehigh University in Globalization and Educational Change with a certificate in International Development in Education, and her PhD in Higher Education from the University of Arizona. Her dissertation was focused on US transnational higher education in Cambodia. Hillary has taught the course "HED 619: Higher Education Across the World" for the UA’s graduate program in Higher Education. Prior to working at the University of Arizona, she worked for an education NGO in Cambodia.
