Students from Vietnam participating in the Study Arizona program had the opportunity to connect with faculty and staff from University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law to mark the start of the spring semester. The event provided a personal welcome, helping students acclimate to life on the main U of A campus while connecting  with key figures in their academic and support network.

The Study Arizona program offers students from the U of A’s microcampuses the opportunity to spend a semester or summer abroad in Tucson, immersing themselves in the full university experience while continuing their academic progress. For many, it is their first time in the United States, making events like this an essential part of their transition.

Faculty and administrators from U of A Law, including Interim Dean Jason Kreag, Assistant Dean of Global Programs Amanda Wolfe, Academic Advisor for Global Programs Megan Caton, Program Manager for Global Programs Ernestina Taleb, Professor Michelle Words, and Marc L. Miller, Ralph W. Bilby Professor of Law and former dean, engaged with the students, offering them insights and encouragement for the semester ahead.

In addition to the law school’s leadership, Arizona International staff were also present to support students in their acclimation to campus and life in Tucson. Assistant Dean for Research & Development Hillary Vance, Study Arizona Program Coordinator Valentino Lugo, and Program Manager for South & Southeast Asia Amanda Agate-Delco played a key role in making students feel at home, answering questions about campus resources, and providing guidance on navigating their new environment.

"These events are crucial for our international microcampus students,” said Vance. “They now have the opportunity to be in the classroom alongside their American and international peers, sharing their perspectives and building connections. This further develops the U of A’s global partnerships and brings international experiences to our main campus students, faculty, and staff. Supporting our students to get acclimated to Tucson is just the first part of what will be an unforgettable experience."

For the students, the experience of arriving in Tucson and studying at the U of A was both exciting and deeply meaningful. Huyen Pham expressed enthusiasm, sharing, "Excited to be in Tucson for the first time and looking forward to the semester ahead!" Tracy Nguyen echoed this sentiment, saying, "Feeling so grateful for this experience and incredibly excited to be in Tucson." Hieu Nguyen reflected on the significance of the Study Arizona program, adding, "Thank you for creating this program that allows us to have such a unique and unforgettable experience in the U.S."

Beyond academic growth, the Study Arizona program fosters cultural exchange, personal development, and global connections. With the support of faculty and staff from both U of A Law and Arizona International, students are stepping into an enriching journey that will not only shape their education but also broaden their perspectives and forge lifelong relationships. As they embark on this semester, they do so with a strong foundation of encouragement, resources, and a welcoming community ready to help them thrive.
