On September 25th, over 1,300 students explored their international education opportunities at the Study Abroad Fair on the University of Arizona mall. Despite the 100+ degree heat, students spent time chatting with program leads, international partners, previous program participants, and Study Abroad staff. Representatives from over 50 programs tabled at the fair, providing students with the chance to compare programs and consider how these opportunities align with their academic, personal, and professional goals.

David Wray, Study Abroad Coordinator for several programs in Latin America and Spain, remarked, “It was great seeing so many students and feeling their excitement about the programs they were exploring.”

At the Fair, Study Abroad presented several new opportunities, including the International Internships program, UA Florence, UA Dublin, and faculty-led programs to Bhutan, Greece, Mexico, and Taiwan. Additionally, the list of pre-articulated Global Tracks has grown since the last Study Abroad Fair, offering even more pre-approved, major-specific pathways for students to go abroad. With over 60 Global Tracks currently available and more in development, finding pre-approved courses is becoming increasingly accessible for students hoping to take major courses abroad.

Mariah Nunes, Curriculum Integration Manager, is one of the members of the Study Abroad Team working to broaden opportunities for University of Arizona students across majors and around the globe. One of her goals at the Study Abroad Fair was to communicate how seamless and academically beneficial going abroad can be. She stated, “Study Abroad is a unique co-curricular experience where students can take courses that align with gen-ed and major requirements through an international lens, all while staying on track for graduation, no matter their major.”

The Study Abroad Team extends a heartfelt thank you to all the students who attended, as well as to those who contributed to the event.
