The University of Arizona continues to set new benchmarks for global engagement, welcoming a cohort of international students from a record-breaking 141 countries in the 2023-2024 academic year. This year marks the most globally diverse student body in the institution’s history. With a 28% increase in total international enrollment across all campuses and modalities, the extended international student population now reaches 7,247, further emphasizing the university’s commitment to providing diverse, high-quality education to students worldwide.

While international enrollment on main campus held steady compared to the previous year, the university’s graduate programs have seen notable growth. International graduate student enrollment increased by 10%, reflecting the university’s growing reputation as a destination for advanced academic and research opportunities.

In addition to strong on-campus numbers, the University of Arizona Microcampus Network has witnessed the largest year-over-year enrollment growth in its history. The total number of microcampus students now stands at 3,330 across 15 partner institutions globally, underscoring the strong demand for the university’s unique global education model. Microcampuses allow students to earn U of A degrees at partner institutions around the world, expanding access to a world-class education.

“The continued growth of our international student body reflects the University of Arizona’s commitment to providing a world-class education that is accessible globally,” said Vice President for Arizona International and Dean of International Education Dr. Jenny Lee.  “We are proud to welcome students from a record number of countries, and to see such diverse perspectives enrich our academic community. Our efforts to expand partnerships are creating more opportunities for students to achieve their academic goals, whether they are studying in Tucson or at one of our global locations.”

Alongside international growth, the University of Arizona is also celebrating an increase in overall student enrollment. This year's first-year student enrollment surpasses last year’s record-setting class by nearly 5% and is 10% higher than in 2021.

This year’s first-year cohort is the most diverse in university history, with 50% of students self-identifying as ethnicities other than white. Hispanic/Latinx enrollment grew by 6%, and there was a 29% increase in Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander students. Additionally, 28% of the incoming class self-identify as first-generation college students.
