University of Arizona kicks off International Education Week, November 17–21
As the University of Arizona community prepares for International Education Week (IEW) from November 17 through 21, Arizona International invites all Wildcats to join in a celebration of global exchange, cross-cultural learning, and community engagement. This annual observance highlights both the transformative power of international education and the many ways the U of A campus engages globally.
“International Education Week is more than a celebration. It’s a reminder of the critical role global engagement plays in higher education,” said Dr. Jenny Lee, vice president for Arizona International and dean of international education. “Through meaningful exchanges and shared experiences, our students and community gain the skills and perspectives to thrive in an interconnected world.”
IEW features a wide variety of opportunities to learn, connect, and experience global perspectives. From family-friendly Story Time and immersive cultural workshops to dynamic performances, students, faculty, and community members are invited to explore the world right on campus.
Attendees can dive into study abroad opportunities through advising sessions and interactive workshops or create vision boards to reflect their goals. Study Abroad Curriculum Integration Manager Mariah Nunes emphasized the unique opportunities the week offers to students considering international experiences.
“IEW is designed to help students imagine their global journey,” said Nunes. “Throughout the week, we offer a range of events that demystify the study abroad process and highlight the many ways these experiences can be meaningfully integrated into their academic and professional goals.”
International students take the stage to share music, dance, and other cultural performances at the annual International Talent Show.
Students are also invited to attend presentations sharing cultural perspectives from around the world, enjoy a Bollywood movie under the stars, or experience a live performance by Ballet BC. The week culminates in the much-anticipated International Talent Show at Berger Performing Arts Center, where international students take the stage to share music, dance, and other cultural performances.
“The International Talent Show is one of the most vibrant and inspiring events of the year,” said Noelle Sallaz, associate director for International Student Services. “It gives students the chance to showcase their talents, share their culture, and build community through creative expression.”
Whether someone is curious about studying abroad for a semester or wants to experience global perspectives in a local setting, IEW offers something for everyone. For the full schedule of events, including times, locations, and registration details, visit the International Education Week website.
