University of Arizona international athletes set to compete at Paris 2024 Olympic Games

The University of Arizona tradition of producing world-class athletes continues as several international students from U of A are set to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Leading up to this year's event, U of A boasts 122 Olympians who have collectively made 187 appearances and earned 74 medals. The university’s athletes have secured 36 gold, 24 silver, and 14 bronze medals in previous games. 

This year, domestic and international Wildcats who have played for or coached at the University of Arizona during their careers will be performing on the world's largest stage. Here, we feature some of the University of Arizona international athletes who have already qualified to compete for their home countries in Paris this summer:

U of A Swimmer Ralph Daleiden

 

Ralph Daleiden

Daleiden will be a junior at Arizona during the 2024-25 season and has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 free events in each of his first two seasons.

Competing for Luxembourg in Swimming (100m free)

Jorge Iga 

Iga lettered at Arizona for four seasons (2017-20) and earned Honorable Mention All-American honors in 2018 in the 400 & 800 free relays.

Competing for Mexico in Swimming (100 free, 200 free)

Bianca Pagdanganan

Pagdanganan played the final two seasons of her college career at Arizona (2018, 2019), where she helped the Wildcats capture the NCAA Team Championship in 2018 and then finished third individually at the 2019 NCAA Championship.

Maryam Sheikhalizadehkhanghah

Sheikhalizadehkhanghah will be a sophomore at Arizona during the 2024-25 season.

Giancarla Trevisan

Trevisan competed at Arizona for three seasons (2014-16) and was a top performer in the 400 events.
