Leadership from the University of Arizona and the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of an ambitious collaboration aimed at broadening access to high-quality education and fostering international cooperation.

The newly signed MoU paves the way for the co-development of a range of educational offerings for master’s level studies and mature student professionals, including executive programs, short courses, and certificate programs. This collaboration is designed to equip career-oriented students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in today’s global economy.

This initiative will eventually allow students to earn dual master’s degrees from both the University of Arizona and ESAMI, providing them with a competitive edge in the international job market. The dual degree programs are expected to cover various disciplines, catering to the diverse educational needs and aspirations of African students.

“This collaboration with ESAMI represents a significant step forward in our mission to provide accessible and impactful education to students worldwide,” said Vice President for Arizona International and Dean of International Education Dr. Jenny Lee. “We are committed to supporting the academic and professional growth of students in Africa, and this partnership is a testament to that commitment.”

The partnership is expected to commence with the development of pilot programs over the coming academic years, with full-scale implementation planned thereafter. Both institutions are optimistic that this collaboration will not only benefit individual students but also contribute to the broader goal of sustainable development in Africa.
