International Student Spotlight - Javier Emilio Gonzales
UArizona/UPC Dual Degree Student Javier Emilio Gonzales shares his Study Arizona experience
Javier Emilio Gonzales is a communication major at the University of Arizona, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
We asked him what he liked the most about being a part of our largest class of international students.
“The part I love the most, is that you get to meet people that you would not have otherwise met! You are exposed a lot of different perspectives, cultures and languages! At a big university, like UArizona, there is a strong international community and that makes students like me, who are far away from home, feel safe here! It’s been great to be part of such a community!"
When asked about his journey, transitioning from Peru to Arizona, he said:
"My journey was rather easy! I am part of a dual degree program with my home university Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), and I knew in my last semester, I would get an opportunity to come to the US! All I had to do was to follow the visa processes and my home university Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) guided me through that! When I first came to Tucson, the team here helped me with everything, accommodation, food, and that all made the process very easy! The university has great resources for international students! For us, international students this is almost like a brand new world. I am very grateful for the opportunities I have had here."
