Arizona International Chief of Staff and Director of Special Projects Erin Chadd, a long-standing member of the University of Arizona, was honored this year with the University Award for Excellence, acknowledging her two decades of dedicated service and significant contributions to the University's global mission.

Erin, who has been with Arizona International since 2009, has consistently exemplified commitment and leadership, playing pivotal roles in several major initiatives, including the transformation of the Park Student Union into the innovative Global Center, the UA Refugee Project, and the Arizona International “Learn at Lunch” series, to name a few.

"In my 20 years at this university, I can think of no other staff member who is more deserving," wrote Vice President and Dean of International Education Dr. Jenny Lee in her letter of recommendation. "She exemplifies the dedicated efforts of so many staff whose work is oftentimes unseen and unrecognized over the years."

Erin was a key component of the Park Student Union renovation, a strategic initiative to create a Global Center that would serve as a one-stop shop for services and activities for Arizona International students, international faculty and scholars, and study abroad students, creating synergies and efficiencies in services. Now after 5 years of work, the Global Center is ideally positioned for international activities and support on the main campus, greatly enhancing the University's international visibility and accessibility.

ISS was nominated for the Department Award of Excellence.

Her involvement in the UA Refugee Project, a 100% Student Engagement Experience, had a notable impact both on campus and in the local community, by providing UArizona students with valuable opportunities to learn about and assist refugees.

"This initiative not only provided our students with an opportunity to learn but also encouraged them to volunteer at refugee organizations," Dr. Lee wrote, highlighting the project's success.

Furthermore, Erin has been instrumental in fostering collaboration with international partners, such as the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), enhancing academic and cultural exchanges that benefit both institutions.

Her commitment to inclusivity and diversity is also evident in her leadership in various initiatives. In his recommendation letter, University of Arizona Director of Marketing Strategy Frank Camp wrote, "Erin has taken every opportunity to ensure that diverse voices are heard and engaged. She has been a constant champion of inclusive excellence throughout her career."

Erin’s dedication extends beyond project management to include professional development within Arizona International. She initiated and led a "Learn at Lunch" series that brought in speakers on various topics, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth within the organization.

As the University community celebrates her achievements, Erin Chadd stands as a model of dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Her contributions have not only enhanced the university's operations but have also profoundly impacted the community, making her a truly deserving recipient of this award.
