Grades and Credit Transfer

I went on a UA faculty-led program. When will my grades be posted to UAccess?

After the conclusion of your program, it will take approximately 3-4 weeks for your study abroad grades to be posted to UAccess. If you don't see the courses, credits or grades after 4 weeks, please contact your study abroad coordinator.

I went on an exchange, direct enroll, or third-party provider program. When and how will my study abroad credits transfer to UA?

Step by step guide to getting your transfer credits approved:

  1. Approximately one to two months following your study abroad program, UA Study Abroad will receive your transcripts from the university abroad or third party partner. When we receive the transcript, we will upload the document to your UAbroad account, and you will receive an automated message that a document has been uploaded to your portal.
  2. UA Study Abroad then sends the transcript onto the appropriate party at the University of Arizona for processing. .
  3. Approximately three to six weeks later, log into UAccess to verify that the credits have been posted to the Transfer Credit tab. In order to have the courses apply to any requirements, speak to your Academic Advisor. Be sure to bring along the Course Selection sheet you had signed before going abroad to ensure that the courses count for what you had approved.

How are transcripts evaluated?

Courses are evaluated with respect to the University of Arizona's policy on the acceptability of transfer credit either by International Admissions (if your transcript is coming from a foreign university) or the Office of the Registrar (if your transcript is coming from a university in the United States). During this initial evaluation, university staff will determine which courses are accepted and will then post these credits to our academic record. Once the courses have been posted, you will be able to view them in UAccess under "Transfer credit".

Do I need to meet with my academic advisor after my study abroad program is over?

If you received transfer credit, then YES, you will need to meet with your academic advisor again to have them apply your transfer credits to your degree requirements.

Can I get a transcript from the university where I studied?

Unofficial transcripts can be viewed on your UAbroad account. If you need an official transcript, then you will have to contact the foreign or domestic institution which awarded your credit. If you don't know whom to contact, then ask your study abroad coordinator for the proper contact info. Please note: UA Study Abroad coordinators can also write verification letters for graduate schools, which along with a copy of your transcript can work as a substitute for original transcripts for some graduate school applications.

I am a non-UA student who participated in a UA study abroad program. How do obtain a UA transcript?

Unfortunately UA Study Abroad cannot send you an official UA transcript for your study abroad program. If you need an official UA transcript, then you will have to request it through the UA Office of the Registrar.

How will study abroad affect priority registration?

It’s important to know that evaluated transfer credits are included in the calculation of your classification (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior). The evaluation of your transfer credits can take up to 3-4 months to be completed. This means that your Priority Registration and classification will likely be affected as you wait for your courses to be posted to your academic record. Unfortunately, the transcript evaluation process cannot be expedited in order to update your classification and Priority Registration time slot.
