UA Barcelona IAU Merit Award
Award Amount: $1,000
The UA Barcelona IAU Merit Award is made possible through generous funding from the Institute of American Universities (IAU) to recognize high-achieving University of Arizona students and to encourage students to take advantage of the Fall semester in Barcelona, a term that offers an immersive study abroad experience with smaller cohorts.
Eligibility
- Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking University of Arizona student in good academic standing with a U of A cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
- Must be applying to the UA Barcelona study abroad program for a Fall Semester or Academic Year.
- Must rank among the 15 students with the highest cumulative University of Arizona GPA in the UA Barcelona Fall cohort.
How to Apply
- This award does not require an additional application beyond the Arizona International Study Abroad program application in Via.
- Eligibility will be determined automatically upon submission of the Study Abroad application for the Fall semester or Academic Year at UA Barcelona.
- The 15 students with the highest cumulative University of Arizona GPA, as shown in UAccess on April 1st, will be automatically selected to receive the scholarship.
Terms and Conditions
- This award is dependent on commitment to and completion of a Fall Semester or Academic Year at the UA Barcelona study abroad program.
- If an awarded student withdraws from their study abroad program, the scholarship will be revoked.
- In the event of a GPA tie, priority will be given to students who committed to the program earlier.
- Award funds will post to students' Bursar accounts as a refund after Study Abroad program charges are billed.
- If you are eligible for the IAU Barcelona Merit Award and are also awarded the Achieve Award or the Discover Award, you will only be able to receive one award. In these cases, you will automatically be awarded whichever scholarship provides the higher funding amount.
- Students may only receive this award once.
- Award decisions are final and based on official GPA records.
- Recipients of this award will be asked to participate in post-program feedback, promotional materials, or events to help inform and inspire future study abroad students.
