Associate Vice President, China & East Asia Affairs Professor of Practice, James E. Rogers College of LawYonggang (Charles) Wang is Associate Vice President for China & East Asia Affairs at the University of Arizona and Professor of Practice at James E. Rogers College of Law. In his capacity at Arizona International, he works with UArizona leaders, faculty, overseas partner institutions, and government entities to identify opportunities, navigate local legal and regulatory landscapes, establish, and implement collaborations for strategic engagement in the region. Under his leadership, Arizona International’s China team has established an unprecedented scale of dual degree partnerships with top universities in the region. The University of Arizona has become a leading player in China’s Sino-foreign educational initiatives. As a result, almost 2000 students are enrolled in microcampus locations in Qingdao, Tianjin, Xi’an, Beijing, etc.
Prior to his career at the University of Arizona, he served as both a judge and chief judge in China’s court system, a visiting foreign judge in both a Maryland state and federal court, and a judicial fellow-in-residence at the Federal Judicial Center. In addition to his extensive judiciary experience, Wang also advised several leading global private equity funds doing business and investment in China and practiced law in cross-border dispute resolution.
Professor Wang received his J.D. from the University of Arizona’s James E. Rogers College of Law and was admitted to practice in Washington D.C.
