Assistant Director, International Faculty and ScholarsJack Sterbis
Assistant Director, International Faculty and ScholarsAs the Assistant Director of International Faculty and Scholars I oversee and facilitate immigration/employment matters and requests for all Faculty, Staff, visiting scholars; all of our foreign friends. I’ve been acting as the university’s liaison with all federal and local government offices for the past 17 years, even considered an honorary JD by my colleagues. I ensure the university remains in compliance for all immigration matters. I consult and provide information to those seeking to migrate here, including their families. In addition, I collaborate with employers and HR on various employment strategies, job postings, and the salary/wage requirements for all jobs.
The best part of my role is the variety of people I get to meet from all over the world. As a touring musician internationally, I discovered that music, art, and food can be enjoyed and shared by all whether we speak the same language or not.
I feel so lucky to have shared so many unique cuisines, conversations, and music with faculty and visiting scholars over the past decade.
As a drummer for over 40 years, nothing brings a smile to my face more than sharing music and talking instruments/drums from the scholar’s home country.
