University of Arizona welcomes global cohort for Study Arizona program
On Sept. 10, 2026, the University of Arizona welcomed 51 international students who recently arrived in Tucson for the fall 2026 semester. The students came to campus through the Study Arizona program, with this fall's cohort traveling from Kazakhstan, Peru and China.
Jenny Lee, U of A chief international affairs officer and dean of Arizona International, opened the event with an inspiring message for the students gathered.
"Study Arizona, as you know, is a semester-long program, and in some ways it's like studying abroad. What we know about studying abroad is that it is absolutely life-changing," Lee said.
"You're here to study, but you're also here to broaden your experiences and meet new people," she continued: "Say yes to opportunities while you're here. Step out of your comfort zone — you can be who you want to be. You really can make this one of the best and most life-changing opportunities you'll ever have. And it only takes a semester to do that."
Study Arizona & the Microcampus Network
The U of A microcampus network is led by Arizona International and currently spans 10 countries: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Peru, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam. Students earn degrees from both the U of A and their partner university, giving them access to a top global university while remaining connected to their home countries.
This fall’s Study Arizona students represent a wide range of academic interests: applied biotechnology, business administration, communications, data science, inclusive education, industrial engineering, information science, law and sustainable built environments. Some students are conducting research. Some are at the start of their degrees while others are completing capstone projects. Many live on campus, several paired with roommates from different partner institutions.
Built on the foundation of dual degree programs, microcampuses facilitate deeper collaboration in teaching, research, student mobility, faculty exchange, workforce development and industry connections. More than 1,600 students currently participate worldwide.
Study Arizona gives students at partner institutions the option to complete a semester of studies at the U of A in Tucson at a reduced tuition rate. The program is designed to integrate students into the Wildcat family through both academic rigor and cultural immersion.
In addition to classes, their time in Tucson will offer cultural activities and excursions, including visits to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, the U of A Museum of Art and the Center for Creative Photography, and a Wildcats football game.
