UA Receives 2017 Laspau University Award
Recognizing its contribution to working with scholars who enhance the quality of international education in the Americas, the UA has received the 2017 Laspau University Award.
Laspau, which stands for Latin American Scholarship Program of American Universities, is a Harvard University-affiliated organization that connects individuals and institutions with global education opportunities through admissions testing, scholarship management, university development, and alliance building.
The UA was specifically honored for supporting Laspau-administered grantees. Each year, the organization helps facilitate prestigious scholarship programs to more than a thousand students in a variety of fields. For example, Laspau administers a part of the Fulbright program that provides grants to scholars from Latin America and the Caribbean for graduate study in the U.S.
The UA has a rich history of hosting Fulbright recipients from around the world. The Office of Global Initiatives, the Graduate College, and the Honors College are committed to supporting students and scholars, both international and domestic, who receive competitive Fulbright awards— a dedication shared with Laspau.
Through the assistance of partners such as the UA, Laspau grantees receive personal attention beginning with the application process, throughout their programs, and upon return to their home countries.
Laspau acknowledged the UA for “going above and beyond expectations” in working with grantees of global scholarship programs, helping to realize its mission of fostering knowledge-based, inclusive societies throughout the Western Hemisphere.
