Introducing a New Study Abroad Destination: UA Florence!

The Study Abroad team is so excited to announce the launch of a new study abroad program, UA Florence! Students will now have the opportunity to live and study in Florence, Italy, a popular city well known for its rich art, culture, and history. Florence is home to many iconic landmarks such as The Duomo and the Uffzi Gallery, making it an ideal place for students to both study and explore an amazing city!

UA Florence students will attend classes at our partner institution, the Institute for American Universities (IAU) and in partnership with Accademia Italiana, a renowned design and applied arts institute. IAU offers a diverse curriculum catered to students majoring in business, fashion, liberal arts, and more! This program also has two Global Tracks with pre-approved courses for Applied Humanities and Business majors and minors, making it easier for students in these fields to find courses applicable to their degree plans. Students with different majors can still work with University of Arizona academic advisors and the Study Abroad office to ensure credits transfer toward their degree.

“Students participating in UA Florence will have the opportunity to learn and explore one of the greatest centers of culture and history in the world! Accademia Italiana offers students interested in business or fashion, alongside other courses, the chance to study and apply their knowledge at a preeminent Italian institution.” - Sam Cox, Study Abroad Coordinator

UA Florence is an Arizona Abroad location, which means students will pay their regular University of Arizona tuition and can apply most of their financial aid and scholarships, making it easier and more accessible for students to fund their study abroad experience. For more details on funding options, students can visit the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid Study Abroad page.

“The uniqueness of Florence, its art, culture, and food, make it an ideal location for study abroad, whether students wish to get to know their home-for-a-semester or explore the many beautiful sites and cities of Italy.” - Sam Cox, Study Abroad Coordinator

At UA Florence, students will get to experience the daily life of a local while living in a shared, fully furnished apartment in an Italian neighborhood that is only a short distance from the IAU campus, allowing students to explore and connect with Florence beyond the classroom.
