Study Abroad Introduces International Internships
The University of Arizona Study Abroad Team is thrilled to announce our new International Internship programs! These summer programs are offered in partnership with Absolute Internship and will provide students with meaningful overseas work experience in a variety of fields. Program locations include Barcelona, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Paris, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Stockholm, Tokyo, and a Virtual option.
Internships and Study Abroad are both considered high-impact practices in higher education, making the combination of these two opportunities an excellent fit for University of Arizona students. As students look to gain the most out of their college experience and prepare for their future careers, International Internships offer them the best of both worlds: career-relevant work experience and cultural immersion and exploration.
According to a joint publication from CIEE and IIE on global internship participation, students who completed a global internship self-reported significant increases in 21st century work skills including intercultural skills, flexibility and adaptability, self-awareness, tolerance for ambiguity, and work ethic. Additionally, three in four respondents in the same study confirmed that participating in an internship abroad was helpful in acquiring their first full-time job. Looking to these benefits, the Study Abroad Team is excited to add these International Internships to our existing portfolio of hands-on programs and expand our experiential learning options.
International Internships are an excellent summer option for students hoping to add work experience to their resume while also gaining intercultural competence and a global perspective on their desired career field. The team looks forward to welcoming our first cohort of International Internships participants in Summer 2025. Applications are open now through February 23, 2025.
