Arizona Global Appoints New Members To Leadership Team
New roles to direct focus and initiatives for UArizona's international presence
The University of Arizona Global leadership team welcomes David Richards and Ricky Salazar. Richards and Salazar will provide leadership and direction for international communications and global strategic initiatives, under the direction of Daniel Palm, Associate Vice President for Global Affairs.
David Richards, Executive Director, International Marketing and Communications
In January 2022, Arizona Global welcomed David Richards as Executive Director, International Marketing and Communications. Like many working in international education, Richards is driven by a mission to enrich the lives of individuals and their communities through life changing education opportunities. Over the last two decades, Richards has helped institutions across the ELICOS, pathway and higher education sectors engage with future students locally and around the world. This included promoting the University of Arizona as an exchange destination while working at the University of Sydney from 2003 to 2005.
“I feel like I have come full circle and love that I can once again promote the University of Arizona. I am particularly excited to help build on the amazing success of Arizona Global - to connect with current and future students, faculty and scholars, here and around the globe, and to share their stories.”
Ricky Salazar, Director, Strategic Initiatives
Ricky Salazar joined Arizona Global in February 2022 as Director of Strategic Initiatives. Salazar has spent more than 15 years in leadership and management positions in private and public sectors, including more than nine years at the University of Arizona. In his previous role as Associate Director, Curriculum and Enrollment Management, in the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) at UArizona, he oversaw the implementation of SBS programs in Arizona Online and the UArizona’s Microcampus at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). From 2013-2015 he worked in UArizona’s School of Information, and from 2015 to 2022 he held various positions in the Dean’s Office in the College of SBS, specializing in curriculum and program development, enrollment management, and undergraduate and graduate student recruitment. Salazar grew up in Texas and came to UArizona as a student, earning a degree in Architecture. He is joining the graduate program in Higher Education in fall 2022.
“During my time at SBS, I have been privileged to collaborate with many colleagues in Arizona Global on ways to deepen our presence in international higher education. I am excited to be in this new role in Arizona Global, cultivating existing partnerships and growing new strategic projects around the globe.”
