The Places You'll Go Passport Stipend

Award Amount: $200
The Places You’ll Go Passport Stipend is a $200 award designed to support students applying for their first U.S. passport. This one-time stipend helps cover the cost of a passport book for students who are applying to study abroad and have never had a U.S. passport book.

Eligibility

  • Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking University of Arizona student in good academic standing.
  • Must have a Traveler profile on Via TRM, the platform in which study abroad applications are hosted
  • Must be eligible to acquire a U.S. adult passport.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Never had a U.S. passport book
  • Not have already applied for a U.S. passport book
  • Priority will be given to students who are applying or already accepted to a for-credit, in-person Arizona International Study Abroad program that is is a faculty-led, exchange, summer research, internship program or is at an Arizona Abroad Location. 

How to Apply

  • Students who attend a required passport application session will need to confirm their eligibility based on criteria above and will need to create a Via Traveler Profile.
  • Students who meet the eligibility criteria and attend the required passport application session will be able to complete a Google Form application to be considered for this stipend.
     

Terms and Conditions

  • There are a limited number of awards available each term and students are encouraged to apply early. Submission of an application does not guarantee selection.
  • Selected students are required to attend a workshop, held virtually or in-person that will guide them through the passport application process.
  • Selected students must upload either their passport application receipt or the confirmation email received after applying for their U.S. passport.
  • Stipend funds will be disbursed to the student’s Bursar account and may be applied toward any outstanding balances.
  • Students may only receive this award once.
  • This stipend is not eligible to be used for passport renewal costs.

There & Back Again Award

Award Amount: $500
The There and Back Again Again Award supports University of Arizona students who have previously participated in Arizona International study abroad programs and are ready to take on a second international experience. This scholarship encourages students to continue their global learning journeys, deepen cross-cultural competencies, and expand on the academic, professional, and personal growth they began during their first experience abroad.

Eligibility

  • Must be a currently enrolled University of Arizona student in good academic standing.
  • Have successfully completed an Arizona International Study Abroad program that is faculty led, exchange or at an Arizona Abroad location.
  • Must be applying or accepted to a for-credit, in-person Arizona International Study Abroad program that is faculty-led, exchange, summer research, internship program or is at an Arizona Abroad Location.
    • Programs not eligible for this award: Non-UA Study Abroad Programs, Departmentally Managed Programs (DMP), fully-funded study abroad programs, virtual programs and non-credit student travel abroad. 

How to Apply

  • The application for the There & Back Again Award will be available within eligible study abroad program applications in Via.
  • The deadline to submit this form depends on the term you will be abroad. Students should apply earlier for the best chance of being selected.
    • Summer Faculty Led programs & International Internship programs: Feb. 15
    • Summer All Other Program Types: Mar. 15
    • Fall and Academic Year: Apr. 1
    • Spring and Calendar Year: Nov. 1
  • Students are required to attend a LifeLab session through Student Engagement & Career Development. Students must upload email verification of their attendance as part of their Achieve Award application.
  • After attending LifeLab, students must also upload an updated resume or LinkedIn profile that clearly connects their current skills and experiences to how these will translate to their international experience 
     

Terms and Conditions

  • This award is dependent on commitment to and completion of an eligible Arizona International Study Abroad program.
  • If an awarded student withdraws from their study abroad program, the scholarship will be revoked.
  • Award funds will be disbursed to the student’s Bursar account after Study Abroad program fees are posted and before study abroad program charges are due. Funds may be applied toward any outstanding balances.
  • Students receiving this award will be asked to participate in post-program feedback, promotional materials or events to help inform and inspire future study abroad students.

USA2Holland Internship Grant

The USA2Holland Internship Grant supports low-income U.S. college students and recent graduates in pursuing internships in the Netherlands. Eligible applicants must be at least 20 years old, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and receive a Pell Grant or demonstrate significant financial need. The program offers two tracks: the Summer Internship Track (up to 90 days) and the Career Internship Track (up to 6 months). Grant recipients may receive up to $10,000 total, including a $1,500 monthly stipend and $1,000 travel reimbursement. Applicants must secure or actively apply for an internship with a Dutch host organization and provide supporting documents, including a transcript, resume, recommendation letter, and proof of financial need.

Holly Huebel Study Summer Abroad Scholarship

The Holly Huebel Study Abroad Scholarship for Summer 2025 will focus on students who have the greatest financial need as demonstrated by their 2024-2025 FAFSA, and are participating in a UA Study Abroad or UA Faculty-Led Study Abroad program within early to mid summer 2025. Applying does not guarantee funding as funding is extremely limited. Priority will be given to students who apply earlier, and only selected students will be notified of awards.

Eligibility:

  • Enrolled in a UA Study Abroad or UA Faculty-led Study abroad program for early to mid Summer 2025
  • Have remaining financial need for Summer 2025 as demonstrated by 2024-2025 FAFSA
  • Extremely limited funding, applying does not guarantee funding
  • Review will occur on first-come first-serve basis and only selected students will be notified
  • Must be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Brenda Brown Passport Scholarship

Spanish & Portuguese Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship

This award is offered through the United States Department of Education and is for “…the graduate training of students who intend to make their careers in college or university teaching, government service, or other employment where knowledge of foreign languages and areas is a prerequisite for success.”  Priority is given to UArizona students who are interested in Portuguese or Latin American indigenous languages, as well as to students in professional schools (e.g., Business, Medicine, Law) taking intermediate and advanced Spanish classes.
