The Study Abroad Alumni Recruiter Scholarship gives former study abroad participants the opportunity to earn funding toward a future study abroad program by recruiting other students to study abroad. Eligible Alumni Recruiters may earn up to $5,000 in scholarship funding!

How Funding Works

Alumni Recruiters earn scholarship funding by successfully recruiting other students to participate in University of Arizona study abroad programs.
To receive the scholarship, you must recruit at least 10 students. Funding is awarded at a rate of $250 for each student recruited:

• Recruit 10 students to earn the minimum scholarship of $2,500.
• Continue recruiting to earn additional funding.
• Recruit 20 students to earn the maximum scholarship of $5,000.

Eligibility

• Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking University of Arizona student in good academic standing.
• Must have participated in a previous study abroad program through the University of Arizona.
• Must intend to apply for a for-credit, in-person Arizona International Study Abroad program that is faculty-led, exchange, summer research, internship program or an Arizona Abroad Location. The scholarship is dependent upon participation in a study abroad program and is awarded after the student has committed to their program.
  • Programs not eligible for this stipend: Non-UA Study Abroad Programs, Departmentally Managed Programs (DMP), virtual programs and non-credit student travel abroad.
• Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Must have a Traveler profile on Via, the platform in which study abroad applications are hosted.

How to Apply

Students apply to the Alumni Recruiter Scholarship in two parts: 

1. Students interested in recruiting for and going abroad during the Summer 2027 term must complete the Alumni Recruiter Application Form no later than Sunday, September 20th. 
   • Students must complete the form by logging into Google using their University of Arizona NetID and password. 
2. Students invited to move forward through the application process will be asked to meet with the Study Abroad Program Manager overseeing the scholarship to discuss the program further.

Terms and Conditions

• This award is dependent on commitment to and completion of an eligible Arizona International Study Abroad program.
• If an awarded student withdraws from their study abroad program, the scholarship will be revoked.
• Scholarship funds will be disbursed to the student’s Bursar account prior to their departure
• Scholarship funds may be applied toward any outstanding balances on student accounts.

Summer Internship Stipends - Center for Career Readiness

The Summer Internship Stipend (SIS) provides eligible University of Arizona undergraduate students with up to $2,500 in financial support while completing a summer internship. The stipend can help cover expenses that may come with an internship, especially if the opportunity is unpaid or requires additional costs such as travel, relocation, housing, or professional attire.

To be eligible, students must:

• Be a University of Arizona undergraduate student enrolled or planning to enroll in classes for the following fall semester.
• Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for residency benefits under Arizona Proposition 308.
• Have completed at least 30 college credits.
• Be in good academic standing.
• Be hired for an eligible summer internship.
• Meet the program’s need-based financial eligibility requirements.
• Have not previously received a Summer Internship Stipend.

Eligible students are identified based on information from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and will receive an invitation from the LifeLab Team with information on how to apply.

Students who receive the award may receive up to $2,500, which is distributed through their University of Arizona bursar account to help support their internship experience.

The HI USA Explore the World Travel Scholarship: First Passport Edition supports young Americans with financial need who want to gain meaningful international experiences and are applying for their very first passport. Each year, they award an additional 5 scholarship recipients who receive $3,000 in funding to help cover the costs of an international trip that includes an educational or service-learning component. In addition to financial support, recipients participate in pre-travel programming and become part of a community of travelers committed to cultural exchange and global understanding.

Eligibility:

• Must be 18–30 years old
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green card holder residing in the United States or a U.S. territory
• Demonstrate financial need
• Have limited travel experience and limited travel resources
• Travel must include an educational or volunteer component
• Have never held a U.S. passport
• Be eligible to receive a U.S. passport

The College of Humanities offers Fearless Inquiries Abroad Scholarships, supporting 30 College of Humanities students to participate in transformative study abroad programs. The scholarships are part of the Fearless Inquiries Project, made possible by alumni Jacquelynn and Bennett Dorrance’s generous support of the College. The Fearless Inquiries Project is a long-term, flagship effort specifically aimed at catalyzing a national culture that prizes open discussion, independent judgment and the questioning of stubborn assumptions.

Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in majors offered by the College of Humanities at the University of Arizona.  Applicants must be participating in a College of Humanities faculty-led study abroad program.  

Applicants must fill out a short application form on Scholarship Universe.  No personal statements or letters of recommendations are required.

Award Amount: $250 for semester or summer programs

The Social Media Ambassador Stipend was created to give Study Abroad students the ability to showcase their international experiences. Selected students will contribute directly to content creation for official university social media accounts and build valuable, marketing-related skill sets as they inspire future students on the @uastudyabroad Instagram (and possibly the main @UArizona social platforms!). This is a competitive award given to 10-12 students per semester/summer.

Eligibility

• Must be a currently enrolled, degree-seeking University of Arizona student in good academic standing.
• Must be applying or accepted to a for-credit, in-person Arizona International Study Abroad program that is faculty-led, exchange, summer research, internship program or an Arizona Abroad Location.
  • Programs not eligible for this stipend: Non-UA Study Abroad Programs, Departmentally Managed Programs (DMP), virtual programs and non-credit student travel abroad.
• Must have a Traveler profile on Via, the platform in which study abroad applications are hosted.
• Note: Academic Year and Calendar Year students may apply separately for each of the semesters that their program covers.

How to Apply

• Students applying for a given study abroad term will receive an email with the Social Media Ambassador application link and deadline for their term.
  • Summer: deadlines typically in April
  • Fall: deadlines typically in April
  • Spring: deadlines typically in November
• The application link will include questions about social media experience and ideas. It will also ask students to provide sample content. 
  • Sample content will be used for ambassador selection only and will not be used publicly.
• Incomplete Social Media Ambassador applications will not be considered.
• Selection is competitive and limited to 10-12 stipend per semester/summer.

Ambassador Requirements While Abroad

Selected students will:

• Host a Study Abroad Instagram story takeover with 3 accompanying Instagram posts 
• Submit quality photos of their time abroad (60 for semester, 30 for summer)
• Submit quality b-roll videos of their time abroad (15 for semester, 10 for summer)
• Submit Instagram Reels of their time abroad (3 for semester, 1 for summer)

Terms and Conditions

• This award is dependent on commitment to and completion of an eligible Arizona International Study Abroad program.
• If an awarded student withdraws from their study abroad program, the stipend will be revoked.
• Stipend funds will be disbursed to the student’s Bursar account after the social media content has been delivered. 
• Stipend funds may be applied toward any outstanding balances on student accounts.
• Stipend amount is based on completion of the Study Abroad Social Media Ambassador requirements. Partial completion of requirements may result in partial payment. 
• Students receiving this award may also be asked to participate in post-program feedback, promotional materials or events to help inform and inspire future study abroad students.

Our partner university, ACM, offers University of Arizona students and alumni the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree tuition-free at the American College of the Mediterranean in France, Spain, and other countries around the Mediterranean through their Pathways Tuition Scholarship. While tuition is fully covered, students are still responsible for housing, student life fees, visa, and travel expenses.

While tuition is fully covered, students will be required to pay ACM housing and Student Life fees along with other living expenses such as visa costs, international airfare and travel costs, food/meal costs, and other personal expenses. These out-of-pocket fees are estimated to be around $10,000-$18,750 per year. Students can view the cost of attendance on ACM's Tuition and Fees webpage. 

The University of Arizona can nominate up to 15 students for this scholarship by the nomination deadline. Offered on a first-come, first-served basis with a waitlist option. Priority will be given to University of Arizona seniors or alumni with a strong academic background and global interests. While not required, preference will be provided to students who have studied abroad. Students studying international relations, art, French, political science, communications, education, or business are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Global Community Fellowship is a 13+ month program for recent university graduate and experienced professionals.  Fellows work at NGOs, schools, universities, and social enterprises across Asia to support community development, capacity-building, and education.  By working directly with communities, Fellows get hands-on experience learning how organizations in Asia are using creative and innovative methods of addressing critical social challenges.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Living and housing stipend while working at your post (based on local cost of living)
• Approximately three weeks of training
• Travel, emergency medical, and evaluation insurance
• Access to mental health support services
• Inta-Asia travel for program activities
• Mini-grants for language study

A new graduate scholarship offered by the French Embassy in the U.S. to mark the 250th anniversary of the American Declaration of Independence. The fellowship funds one year of master’s study in France for up to 30 outstanding American students at 15 top French universities.

Open to all fields—including STEM, humanities, social sciences, and the arts—with programs available in English or French. Fellows also join the French-American Leadership Program, gaining immersive experience in European innovation, culture, and policy.

For students enrolled in a UA Classics course while studying abroad in Italy. Several $250 travel awards are available for:

• Explore Italy (Spring Break 2026): 1-unit CLAS 499 course using Italian cities as your text. Deadline: Nov. 15, 2025.

• Arizona in Orvieto (Summer 2026): Mid-May to late June program. Deadline: Mar. 3, 2026.

Applicants must submit a 250-word statement describing what they hope to gain from the course and trip. Include your name, UA email, award name (“Cynthia White Award”), and study abroad program.
