Travel Registry Information

If you have not used our system before, please review the registry quick guide here.

Who Needs to Register:

U of A employees, students, volunteers, participants, or Designated Campus Colleagues (DCC) traveling outside the U.S. 50 states* on official U of A business are required, under the U of A International Travel Safety and Compliance Policy, to register upcoming travel at least 30 days before departing.

*Please Note: You do not need to register international travel that is purely for personal purposes.

Travel Funded by Others:

If you are on official university travel (i.e., in the course and scope of your role as faculty, staff, student, or DCC at the university), you still must register.

Why Registration Matters:

The U of A International Travel Registry facilitates compliance with federal regulations and enables rapid location and communication in an emergency (e.g. natural disasters, civil unrest, etc.). It also ensures that you will be covered under the State’s blanket international emergency medical and evacuation insurance policy administered by Risk Management.

When to Register:

As soon as possible, at least 30 days prior to departure.

How to Register:

Gather information, documents, and tips listed on the Know Before You Go Travel Checklist.

Then, select the appropriate registration button above to initiate your registration.

Resources

Guidance for Group Trips:

  1. Travel Lead Requirements (for trip leads organizing trips leading students, not necessary for trips with students traveling independently to the same location)
  2. Visit Know Before You Go (with students)

Travel to Higher Risk Locations:

Certain locations are considered higher risk, and the reasons for this designation range from high rates of violent crime to disease outbreaks. For those registering travel to a higher-risk location, U of A International Travel will email the traveler asking for Supplemental Travel Information prior to submitting the travel for review by the university's International Travel Safety Committee (ITSC). Additionally, U of A International Travel will reach out to the traveler's academic department to seek confirmation as to whether this travel is deemed “essential.”

To help determine if your travel is high risk, please review the following sites:
Crisis24 Horizon (access through NetID): Horizon

  • Ensure you use your U of A email ending in @arizona.edu and your U of A password to log in.
  • Locations are considered high risk when they are 3.50 (out of 5) and above.

State Department Travel Advisories: State Department

  • State Department travel advisory of 3 or 4 is considered higher risk.

Traveler Health Resources:

If you have upcoming international travel, please review the CDC's Travelers’ Health website prior to your departure.

UA Travel Policy

The University of Arizona supports and encourages travel by faculty, staff and students. The resources listed below outline current policies and procedures that should be followed to ensure that members of the UA community can be reached in case of emergency when traveling on UA business or programs.

Policy for International Travel Safety and Compliance

The University of Arizona approved a revised Policy for International Travel Safety and Compliance that is effective as of May 1, 2012. The new policy outlines guidelines for travel to higher risk countries identified by the U.S. Department of State and the Center for Disease Control. This policy applies to all University of Arizona (UA) faculty, staff, students and volunteers who travel internationally as part of University of Arizona research, education, service or employment.
