Undergraduate Graduation

Congratulations!

Please read the following information to prepare you for completing your program with the University of Arizona.

Undergraduate students graduating this term (Fall 2025) must submit a graduation application. Click the link below to apply.

Graduation Application

Please note that as a microcampus student, your application will be submitted through Qualtrics. Please do not submit an application through UAccess, even if you receive email communication from the Registrar’s Office directing you to do so.

If you would like a letter of invitation to add to your visa application to attend graduation events in Tucson, please request one by completing the form linked below.

Letter of Invitation

Degree Conferral

In order to complete or “confer” your University of Arizona degree, you must pass all required courses, earn the minimum number of credits, and obtain at least a 2.00 cumulative U of A GPA. Your major might have its own specific, additional conferral requirements.

If you fail any courses needed to earn your U of A degree (either at U of A or your home institution), your conferral term will be deferred. This could negatively impact your eligibility to participate in U of A graduation ceremonies.

Please note that “graduation” and “degree conferral” are two different achievements at the University of Arizona. Graduation is a celebratory event (a convocation or ceremony) that occurs immediately at the end of each semester before any review of your academic record has been completed. You may participate in graduation before your degree is conferred. Your diploma will not be awarded during this event.

Degree conferral is the official awarding of your degree after all academic requirements have been reviewed and marked as complete. Your final, official transcripts from your home institution are required for this process. This review occurs after graduation and may take a while to complete. If any requirements are missing, your degree will not be conferred until you complete the missing requirements. Therefore, it is possible to participate in graduation and not have your degree conferred that semester.

If you have any final questions regarding your program's conferral requirements or your academic progress, please contact your U of A advisor.

Lastly, a $50 candidacy fee is required for degree conferral. Arizona International will pay this fee for you.

Graduation Ceremonies

You are eligible to attend graduation ceremonies in the term your degree is conferred, or even in a future term if you are unable to attend during your conferral term due to certain circumstances. You will have one year from the term your degree is conferred to participate. If you have questions about your ceremony eligibility, please contact oie@arizona.edu.

Traveling to attend graduation in-person in Tucson, Arizona, will be at your own expense. All of the latest information about graduation can be found at the commencement website here. Rules and regulations are listed on this website for anyone who intends to travel to Arizona for the in-person ceremonies. Please read this information carefully prior to your departure to Tucson!

Regalia is required to participate in ceremonies. You can order what you need online through the U of A Bookstore website here.

You can pick up your regalia and any other items you have purchased at the bookstore when you arrive. The bookstore does not ship internationally. The bookstore is located in the Student Union Memorial Center at 1209 E. University Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85721.

Lastly, you will not receive your University of Arizona diploma at graduation. You will receive your diploma once your degree has been officially conferred. Please see “Degree Conferral” for detailed information explaining the difference between “graduation” and “degree conferral.”

There will be convocations hosted by most colleges or departments, but not all of them host convocations every term. View your college or department’s specific graduation information here for information on availability, dates, times, locations, RSVPs and tickets.

If you and your family or friends plan on attending the ceremonies in Tucson, and need a tourist visa to attend the ceremony, you may complete this form to obtain a letter of invitation to include in your visa application.

As of February 2025, letters will only list the name of the student and will not list names of family members or friends. However, family members or friends can still use this letter for their visa appointments even if their name is not listed.

Please note this form is NOT required to obtain a tourist visa or attend graduation and does not guarantee visa approval.

Personal Information Verification

Your primary name in UAccess is the name that the U of A Registrar's Office automatically uses for your diploma and transcripts. It is university policy that your primary name and diploma name are the same.

In many countries when attending a job interview or applying to a graduate degree program, it is preferred that the name on your government issued identification (such as a passport or birth certificate) is the same as the name on your transcript and diploma. Therefore, it is imperative that you confirm that your primary name in UAccess matches your government issued identification.

Please check your primary name in UAccess as soon as possible so that there are no issues when you receive/order your diplomas and transcripts. The first physical diploma you receive is free of charge to you, but if you receive your physical diploma and the name printed is incorrectly, you will be charged approximately $100 USD to have the diploma re-printed and re-shipped to you.

How to verify your primary name

  1. Log into your UAccess Student Center @  studentcenter.arizona.edu.
  2. Hover over the "Academic Record" tab and select "Enrollment Verification."
  3. A new page will appear. Select "Submit."
  4. Select "Printer Friendly Version." You must select this button otherwise your name will not reflect properly.
  5. The name listed on this document is what will be printed on your official U of A diploma and transcripts.

Your name will appear as:

First (Given) Name(s) stated first, Middle Name stated next (if you have one listed in the U of A system), and your Last Name(s) (Surnames) stated last. Your name will be printed on your diploma in the same structure. See the graphic below for a visual explanation

Primary Name

Next steps:

If you are satisfied with the appearance of your primary name, you do NOT need to take any action.

If your primary name is correct, but you would like your Last Name/Surname written FIRST rather than LAST, please email oie@arizona.edu for assistance.

If your primary name is incorrect (i.e. names are transposed, misspelled or missing), please review the next section to update your primary name.

How to update your primary name

If the primary name you see in UAccess is not exactly how you want it to appear on your U of A diploma, then you must update your primary name with the U of A Registrar's Office. Otherwise, you will risk having your name incorrectly printed on your diploma, and possibly encounter issues with degree verification with future employers/graduate schools.

Instructions to update your primary name can be found here.

If you have any questions or issues with this process, please contact your U of A Location Manager or email oie@arizona.edu for assistance.

The University of Arizona curates a general directory. Notable items in the directory include students’ names, phone numbers, Catmail addresses, majors, and degrees earned. The University may disclose any directory information without student consent, as long as the student has not restricted such information from disclosure. Students must request such a restriction through their UAccess Student Center, which will remain in effect unless and until the student releases the restriction.

If you wish to restrict the disclosure of your directory information, your name will not appear in the graduation bulletin and other university publications. Also, third parties will be denied all of your directory information and will be informed that we have no information available about your attendance at the University. Your home institution (our microcampus partner) can still obtain directory and academic information if you restrict this disclosure.

If you would like to review the information that is included in the directory, or are interested in restricting the release of your directory information, please visit the directory information page here

Diplomas

In order to receive your University of Arizona diploma we must first receive your final transcript from your home university with grades posted from your last semester of study. After receipt of the final transcript, a final degree audit will be conducted by your College in order to confer your degree. Your degree will be officially conferred once your College confirms you have completed all program requirements.

As microcampus students, your U of A diploma will automatically be printed and returned to the Arizona International office in Tucson. Our office will ship your cohort's diplomas in bulk to your home university. See “Shipments to a U.S. Address” if you would like your diploma to be sent to an address in the United States instead.

The first physical diploma you receive is free of charge. If you need to order additional diplomas, see “Ordering Additional Physical Diplomas."

If you would like your diploma shipped to an address in the United States, please email the Office of International Education at microcampus@arizona.edu from your U of A email address with the following information:

Name, U of A SID, Microcampus location

Address in the United States

Declaration that you would like your diploma shipped to the U.S. address rather than returned to Tucson.

Due to the high volume and complexity of the process, diploma receivals may take a few months. We sincerely appreciate your patience. We aim for you to receive your diploma by the following timelines:

Spring (May) conferrals: end of August

Summer (August) conferrals: end of November

Fall (December) conferrals: end of April

We understand that you might need your diploma as soon as possible for a job or graduate school application. Please see “eDiplomas and Other Verification” for additional options for degree verification.

If you would like to order additional physical copies of your U of A diploma, you can do so at any time for a fee by following the instructions listed below.

Please note that you will be responsible for the charges related to ordering and shipping additional U of A diplomas. Also note that the University of Arizona is not liable for lost mail. Please enter a reliable shipping address. If you do not have one, we suggest listing the school address of a trusted administrator at your home institution (AUPP, SU, UPC, OUC, PSUT, etc.) and coordinating pick-up with this person as this school address is usually more reliable for international shipping.

  1. Visit the Michael Sutter Diploma Service website here.
  2. Log in by entering your U of A NetID and password or by entering your UA SID and last name.
  3. Select "Order Additional Diplomas."
  4. A sample of the diploma will appear; verify your diploma name.
  5. Select the number of diplomas you would like to order.
  6. Enter your email and phone number.
  7. Select the country you are shipping to and enter the shipping address.
  8. Select shipping type.
  9. Enter credit card information.
  10. Select "Place your Order."

After placing your order, you will receive an email confirmation that your order was received, including details for tracking your order. Retrieval times for international shipping varies by country. Expect the package to take at least 3 - 4 weeks to arrive.

If you have any questions about this process, please contact your U of A location manager or email oie@arizona.edu.

eDiplomas and Other Verification

If your degree has not been posted, you can download an enrollment verification form in UAccess, which will state your expected graduation term.

See instructions linked here for guidance.

If your degree has been posted and you are waiting on shipping, you can request an eDiploma 10 days after the date of the degree posting here.

Arizona International is no longer able to provide letters from our office confirming students’ expected or actual conferral terms. If such a letter is needed, please contact the Office of the Registrar at reghelp@arizona.edu from your U of A email address.

If you need a letter confirming that the language of instruction for your dual-degree program is English, you may request one here.

Please note that this letter is only available for the following locations:

  • UA Jakarta
  • UA Phnom Penh

Transcripts

You can view and download your unofficial U of A transcripts at any time for free in your UAccess Student Center.

Instructions can be found here

You can order your official U of A transcripts at any time for a fee in your UAccess Student Center. You can order physical or digital copies. You will be charged for each copy you order.

When prompted to select a shipping method, we highly recommend selecting International Federal Express shipping so you can receive a tracking number and monitor the shipping history as your package travels to you internationally.

Transcripts have been lost in the mail. Arizona International and the Registrar’s Office are not accountable for lost mail, nor will a refund be provided if your package is lost.

Instructions can be found here

Offloading After Graduation

If you graduate from the U of A, you will retain access to your Catmail address. To ensure that you do not miss out on exciting news and events, and to stay connected with the Wildcat family, please consider setting up email forwarding to the account you will regularly use after graduation.

See the instructions here to set up email forwarding.

You will lose access to your D2L class sites, Microsoft Office 365 account, and any other software provided by U of A licensing agreements after graduation. We recommend you download any documents you do not want to lose before the end of your last term with U of A. For more details, please visit IT’s article here.
