The Department of Optics and Photonics (DOP) at National Central University (NCU) in Taiwan invites scholarship applications for incoming exchange students for Summer research (2-month internship starting in May or June). The opportunities are offered to undergraduate and graduate students from the Wyant College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. Interested applicants should contact DOP professors to find a host research laboratory in advance.

The scholarship will be US$2,500 per person. The application deadline is April 15, and award notifications are sent about one month after the application deadline. The scholarships are awarded as a monthly stipend during students’ stay in Taiwan.  Interested applicants should contact DOP professors to find a host research laboratory in advance. Please go through the webpages below, figure out what kind of research you are interested in, and contact the related professors by emails:

You are also welcome to email Hsiao-Chun Peng (Stacy) at Stacy65261@dop.ncu.edu.tw, tell her what your research interests are, and she will introduce you to some DOP professors.

Important notes:

  • Must be a degree-seeking UA student in the Wyant College of Optical Sciences in good academic and disciplinary standing.
  • Students who participate in the program will be enrolled in Independent Study units at the UA with academic advisor's approval.
  • Please contact your Study Abroad Coordinator for the hard copy of the application materials, which includes NCU applicant profile form, and letter of recommendation form.
  • Please plan early (at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline) so that you have enough time to complete the applications.
