Université Jean Moulin – Lyon 3 was founded in 1974 and is home to over 20,000 students. Lyon 3 is comprised of three campuses featuring a Law School, a Business and Management School, a College of Foreign Languages, a College of Humanities, and a College of Philosophy.

Undergraduate students have the option of taking courses in French through the DEUF Program: Diplôme d'Etudes Universitaires Françaises or in English through the SELF Program: Study English in Lyon France. Click here for a comparative chart detailing the two program possibilities. Both SELF and DEUF offer specially tailored coursework for international exchange students.

Participants in both SELF and DEUF must enroll in the following two courses:

Additionally, SELF students enroll in 4 other courses of their choosing from the list here (scroll to 'Course offering' section) for a total of 31 credits; DEUF students may choose from these courses for a total of 36 credits.

Students with very advanced proficiency in French may also enroll in 'regular' university courses alongside local students.

Location: Lyon, France

Lyon is France's second-largest city with a population of over 1.5 million, and is only a two hour TGV train ride away from Paris. The city lies equidistant from the French Alps and the Mediterranean Sea. Lyon offers all of the perks a big city- theaters, cinemas, museums, art galleries, an opera house, shopping, and dining- within close proximity of beautiful countryside hardly more than a half hour away. Lyon's public transportation system is very extensive and accessible, featuring buses, trams, and the metro.

Semester Cost

  • $50 Study Abroad Application Fee
  • Mandatory Geo Blue International Health Insurance at a rate of $3 a day (approximately $360 a semester)
  • You pay Main Campus UArizona Tuition & Fees to do an exchange and receive all of the financial aid you use on main campus.
