UNAM is the top university in Latin America with over 150,000 students spread out in campuses throughout Mexico. Students must have reached advanced Spanish proficiency prior to arriving in Mexico as classes will be taught only in Spanish.

Location

The main UNAM campus is located in Mexico City, the largest city in the America's. Mexico City is rich in history and culture; it was once the city of Tenochtitlan, the seat of the Aztecs. 

In addition, UNAM has a selection of campuses throughout Mexico.

***​​Students are encouraged to apply to the campus of their choosing, but applications are subject to review by the International Travel Safety Oversight Committee and Provost approval due to the current State Department Travel Advisory for Mexico.  Study at the campus of application cannot be guaranteed.

Global Peace Index rating: Mexico ranks 136/163 in the Global Peace Index. The lower the score, the more peaceful the country.

Housing

Housing options will vary depending on location. UNAM does not offer on-campus housing nor contract with local host families. Accepted students will be responsible for securing their own accommodations.

Semester Cost

  • $50 Study Abroad Application Fee
  • Mandatory Geo Blue International Health Insurance at a rate of $3 a day (approximately $360 a semester)
  • You pay Main Campus UA Tuition & Fees to do an exchange and receive all of the financial aid you use on main campus.

  • Other estimated costs include but not limited to housing, transportation (air & local), visa, meals, books and supplies
  • UA Study Abroad scholarships are available based on eligibility
