Guidelines and Application  The Visiting Scholar Grant (VSG) provides funding to assist departments in bringing distinguished international scholars to The University of Arizona. The funds are to be used for domestic portions of airfare only (between U.S. port of entry and Tucson, AZ). The funds cannot be used for overseas or international portions of travel. Clear evidence of cost-sharing from at least two UA funding sources must be shown (not including VSG funds).
The Division of International Affairs, Office of the Executive Director has made $5,000 available for this fiscal year to directly fund the VSG. The maximum award amount is $400 per award. Please note that university policy requires the international visitor and/or the sponsoring department to provide evidence of an appropriate visa type in order to issue reimbursement for travel costs. The policy on visa types should address any questions on these requirements.
The general requirements for the VSG are:
- Application Form (see below)
- A letter of recommendation from either the department head or dean of your college
- An abstract of the paper being presented (or a brief description of activity) by the international visitor
- An abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (maximum of 3 pages) for the international visitor
